Trailer Boys follows the journey of Muhammad Irfan Rafieh, a key member of Abam2 Trailer Singapura, which is a community of heavy vehicle drivers from Singapore. Truck drivers are mostly seen as uneducated and unskilled compared to the rest of society, especially in fast-paced competitive Singapore. This film explores how young truck drivers in Singapore such as Irfan find ways to break stereotypes and improve how society perceives them through their day to day work and their trailer club.

Noted author Teo You Yenn joins filmmaker Yusri 'Shaggy' Sapari and a member of the Abam Abam trailer group (TBC) for a conversation on the making of Trailer Boys and the topics it raises. The panel will explore aspirational differences and social mobility of different classes, tuning in to the ongoing discussion echoed on-ground.
Panellist 1: Yusri Shaggy Sapari
A professional kepo using the medium of recorded video to explore stories of people. He started his journey recording his grandmother and TV shows on his audio cassette tape recorder as a child.
Shaggy went on later in his teenage years to study media hoping to become a journalist. That’s when he fell in love with the arts. He now makes videos under Paradise Pictures and as a multimedia artist for theatre shows. Shaggy's documentary “Trailer Boys”, about young truck drivers from Singapore, premiered in 2018 as part of Freedom Film Festival in Petaling Jaya. It then went on to tour Penang before returning to Singapore, screened at The Projector. Since then, it became part of the Official Selection for Singapore Shorts 2019 and is nominated for National Youth Film Awards 2019.
